As musicians and performers, it is really important for us to connect with our listeners. When we play for dancers, our aim is to provide inspiration for people to dance with creativity and freedom and to make the milonga memorable. There is nothing quite like the special connection between dancers and live musicians, and our understanding of what makes a tune 'danceable' is why our music fills the dance floor.
If you are an organiser of tango events, please do get in touch to talk about how we can help to make your event extra special. Although we play mostly alternative tango arrangements, our sets work well with both traditional and alternative TDJ sets.
Some comments we have received from previous milongas:
'The duo of cello and guitar music added a special touch to the afternoon.'
'Thank you for creating this lovely atmosphere...especially the amazing live music with cello and guitar.'
'The live music from Mary and Willy was truly delicious, so very danceable and a great mix of tunes.'
'Fantastic danceable live music from Mary and Willy.'
'Well worth the long journey!'

About us
Willy Barrett (aka Wild Willy Barrett) - Although new to the world of Tango, Willy is an established multi-instrumentalist with a long career in the music industry.
Born and raised in Aylesbury, he started playing the Ukelele at the tender age of 4 and soon moved on to other instruments. By the age of 15 he was gigging regularly, working and recording alongside and in collaboration with his emerging contemporaries.
His first commercially available recordings can be found on Guitar Workshop, issued in 1973 by Transatlantic Records. He is also featured on The Contemporary Folk Guitar album with Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Gordon Giltrap & Ralph McTell.
He has worked with many well known artists and has toured with Squeeze, Madness and Steeleye Span and played fiddle, guitar and mandolin for George Hamilton IV. He also played pedal steel guitar on the influential Keith Hudson reggae album entitled Rasta Communication, along with Sly and Robbie.
However, he is most well known for his collaboration with John Otway, with whom he continues to tour.
Mary Holland - Mary has had an interest in music from an early age and enjoys using the cello to play outside of the normal 'classical' genre with which many people associate the instrument.
As a young girl she played in a string quartet (in which she appears in the film Bugsy Malone) but has since moved away from the classical repertoire to work with different styles of music including folk, samba and Egyptian dance music.
In fact it was whilst playing Egyptian style music on an electric cello for a belly dance troupe that she first met Willy. Not long afterwards, she found herself playing on the stage at the London Palladium with his newly formed group 'Sleeping Dogz'.
Since starting to dance Argentine Tango, she has worked with Willy on arrangements using cello and guitar, with the aim of inspiring people to be more creative and flowing in their dance. Although they both play other instruments, the cello and guitar have proved to be the perfect combination for milongas!
